Speculaas Hot Chocolate

Treat yourself to a cup of this frothy hot chocolate with a fragrant touch of speculaaskruiden. It is especially delicious topped with freshly whipped cream, and for a little festive 'oomph' you can even add in a splash of rum!

Serves 4


  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 4 tbsps cocoa powder
  • 4 tbsps sugar
  • ¾ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp speculaaskruiden


  • Whipped cream and/or rum, if desired
  • Place all the ingredients (except the whipped cream and rum) in a blender and mix till frothy.
  • Gently heat without boiling.
  • Add the rum and top with whipped cream, if desired.
